Insomnia and Tits

Posted by EvilerBowser1001 Sep. 28, 2009 @ 8:45 PM EDT

I've been having some very serious problems with my sleep.
Can't seem to fall asleep easily these days, and when I do, it's often at very odd hours.

Odd as in afternoon odd.
There's a few things I think could be causing this:

1) Depression.

I've been feeling quite homesick lately, to be honest, and I haven't been making that many friends.
I'm also feeling rather unmotivated, hardly studying and doing my assignments.
Looking around right now, my room's a complete fucking tip.
Can't even get around to cleaning my room.

On the other hand, I'm not totally convinced.
The friends I am making are really nice people with similar interests that I quite like.
There's even this girl that could be good relationship material.
I don't feel miserable, but just generally sad sometimes.
Feh.

2) Too much freedom.

This is pretty much the first time that I've been away from home, and I just love this new freedom. This means that I have nobody nagging me to clean my room, do my homework, eat well, take my vitamins, etc etc.

This is really fun and all, but it also means that my irresponsibility is coming to the surface:
I'm starting to realize now how unhealthy I live, with me hardly getting any sleep even when I want to, me having a horrible sweet-tooth when I'm actually pre-diabetic (that means I could get diabetes if I'm not careful) and I hate working out.

I think this has something to do with it, but it's not the only thing.

3) I'm actually an insomniac, and should just learn to live with it as well as I can.

From about the age of 12, I have almost never been able to go to bed to sleep until about 1 in the morning, at the earliest. I thought back then that I was just a nightowl, and it certainly would come in handy when I snuck out during my teenage years in England, to go off and drink with friends.

However, when I got back to America and started at a proper private highschool, it started being a negative facet of my life, mostly due to me having to get up at 6 in the morning.

Five hours of sleep a night is rather unhealthy, and I often didn't even get that.

On the other hand, some of my most productive work has been at night, with me daring to commit to writing the ideas that I would fear and hate in the stark embrace of sunlight.
And being active at hours longer than most people means I can be more productive and have more fun simultaneously.

Trying to work out more and eat a little better, see if that's causing it.
If it doesn't get better in about a week, I'm going to go to a doctor about this.

TL; DR version: I can't get no sleep for a bunch of reasons.

That is all very complicated and crazy. I thought I was pretty bad, but wow. What do you propose to do to get some shut eye?

Well, most recently, I seem to be sleeping a little bit better.
Just a little.
It's slowly improving, so I guess eating better is working out so far.

Calling you an asshole isn't an opinion. It's just stating a plainly true fact.
